Sharing the traditions of family
Growing up in a family with a deep devotion to their Italian culture, Tom Cantella’s childhood memories almost always centered on their family cookouts, which were guaranteed to include freshly made Italian sausage.
After a successful career in business, Tom changed paths in 1980 and built a sausage catering cart from scratch. The cart was a huge success, especially after he began to feature his grandfather’s Italian sausage recipe. Cantella’s sausages were made fresh, with quality meats and hand-blended spices. Before long, Cantella’s began selling mild and hot Italian sausage in the Southern California marketplace.
Expanding to Meet the Demand for Quality Food
As Cantella’s reputation for quality fresh sausage quickly grew, so too did the varieties that the newfound company offered. In 1997, Tom’s son Tony Cantella joined the family business as the company expanded their offerings to include fully cooked craft sausages and hot dogs. They also expanded their market presence beyond Southern California. In 2003, Cantella’s moved into a new facility, which allowed Prepared Foods to become its latest channel of premium product offerings.
Today, the portfolio includes many varieties of fresh and fully cooked craft-made sausages and hot dogs, as well as prepared offerings such as chilis, stuffed chicken breasts, stews, and a multitude of other entrees and side dishes. Cantella’s products can be found on shelves across the country in retail grocers, specialty grocers, wholesale clubs, and restaurants.

We take our holidays seriously
Our annual holiday videos have become a popular tradition. Check them out!
We’re driven every day in honor of those pioneering Italian immigrants of the early 1900s, who like my grandfather, Gaetano Cantella, braved the Atlantic with their families and undauntedly approached the lady with the torch. They carried with them only a bag of clothes in hand, a few dollars in their pockets, hopes and dreams in their hearts and their favorite sausage recipe.
